Frankie Miller was an incredible Scottish singer-songwriter who emerged onto the scene back in the ‘60s and made some serious waves. As talented as he was, there was also an element of self-destruction that always held him back. He wrote great songs and was an incredible performer who influenced many of rock’s greats.
This set looks at three Miller’s performances at Germany’s Rockpalast from 1976, 1979, and 1982. It’s definitely the time in which Miller was at his finest. The concerts show Miller as a very capable performer who achieves his goals with ease. His voice is very distinct and one of a kind.
One of the coolest aspects of this set is that it’s probably the only official visual of this artist, so it’s a rare treat into one of rock’s best-kept secrets. Miller does not disappoint; he sounds great and delivers the goods three times in a row.
Now, let’s keep in mind, these shows were recorded initially for broadcasts at the time, and no one thought that they would be officially released four decades later. So, there are imperfections you may find here and there. But it’s nothing that would stop you in your tracks from enjoying the shows. This is a great document of a time that will never repeat itself. And when it comes to Frankie Miller, let’s take what we can get.
Frankie Miller no longer performs or records music. In 1994, he suffered a brain hemorrhage that left him unable to sing or speak. He went through a lot of rehabilitation, but his career sadly came to an end. Keeping this in mind, it makes the validity of this release even more special. In many ways, this is a goldmine for Miller fans, and possibly a way to discover an excellent artist.
