When John Lennon was shot on December 8, 1980, the world was
shocked and saddened. I, on the other hand, was unmoved. At the
ripe age of 9 I was barely aware of the fact that there was hair on
my head, let alone that a great musician was shot dead. Only now
after years of listening to his music am I aware of what the world
lost.

Now, I have to be honest. I never cared for what causes Lennon
and Yoko were fighting for, or what they did for world peace. I
love his music. Period!

Lennon Legend consists of 20 songs that can only make up a
fraction of his incredible work. Running almost 78 minutes, this
album is perfect from start to finish. Composed of some of his more
popular work like “Imagine,” “Instant Karma” and even “Happy
Christmas (War is Over),” Lennon marvels us with his ability to
record pop songs, ballads and even some hints of reggae. I
personally enjoy the great work with percussion. Listen to track
16, “Nobody Told Me,” and see if you can hear the wood block and
cowbells in the background. In a word: Incredible. Granted some of
Lennon’s songs can be a bit of a downer, “Mother” and “Working
Class Hero” come to mind rather quickly. But, we must remember,
Lennon always had a point to make and he chose his music as his
outlet to make those points. Even if they are depressing.

There is something on this album for everyone. A worthwhile
investment and I recommend it to everyone.
