Night Ranger is one of those many bands that never received the
recognition they derserved. Another band in that same vein is
Survivor. Both bands do NOT have ALL of their original albums on
CD. It’s real hard to find any original albums by Night Ranger,
(except if you’re into Greatest Hits compilations). Anyway, Night
Ranger’s 1985 release,
7 Wishes, ROCKS!

Last year, when their album
Midnight Madness was chosen as one of my album picks of the
week, (yes, i’ve been doing this for quite a long time!) they had
just been recognized with their ballad “Sister Christian”. Even
though that album was pretty good, I liked
7 Wishes a little bit better.

Night Ranger’s musical style is mostly hard-rock, and they prove
that here with rockers like the title track and “This Boy Needs To
Rock”. The other songs rock as well, featuring the 80s-rock style.
The last song “Goodbye” is a great ballad, despite the title, and
how hard it is to say goodbye to someone. After listening to this
album, you feel pretty damn good!

Night Ranger member Jack Blades teamed up with Styx’s Tommy Shaw
and rock legend Ted Nugent to form Damn Yankees years later, so if
you’re familiar with the Yanks, you’ll like Night Ranger. Overall,
this album has comparisons to Survivor, Def Leppard, and the 80’s
Kiss, to name a few. If you like to rock, Night Ranger is highly
recommended to satisfy that need.
